Galapagos:
North Seymour Island
A
low and flat island located slightly to the north of Baltra. It was formed
as a result of the uplift of a submarine lava formation.
The whole
island is covered with low, bushy vegetation. Galapágos´ largest colony
of magnificent frigate birds is found here, as well as a large population
of blue-footed boobies when nesting conditions are right.
Despite
the tremendous surf that can pound the outer shore, sea lions haul themselves
out onto the beach and can be found together with marine iguanas. You
can also find swallow-tailed gulls and the occasional Galápagos snake.
